Alice Elaine Wiginton

Alice Elaine (Green) Wiginton, 75, of Crawfordville, Florida, passed away on September 10, 2026 at the Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee surrounded by her family. Alice was born on December 1, 1950, in Tallahassee, Florida, to Annie Kate Green and the late Joe Green. She resided in Crawfordville for most of her life and was a proud graduate of Wakulla High School, Class of 1968. Alice and her beloved husband, Richard “Moose” Wiginton, were childhood sweethearts. Their love story began when they were young, and they were married in 1969. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, family and cherished memories. Alice was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a loving mother to her son, Zach Wiginton (Jessica), and daughter, Nikki Whitney (Scott). She was a constant and enthusiastic presence in her children’s lives, especially throughout their school years. She rarely missed an opportunity to support them and was actively involved in their many activities and sporting events, including football, weightlifting, cheerleading, softball and other pursuits. Being there for her children was one of the great joys of her life. Alice dedicated 35 years of her career to serving the State of Florida in several positions, ultimately working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, where she retired with honors. She took great pride in her career and in the years she devoted to serving the State of Florida. Alice was known for her kindness, compassion and strength. She was a talented cook and was especially known for her chocolate pies, which became a beloved family tradition. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and many other crafts, sharing her talents and creations with those she loved. Alice courageously survived Stage 3 breast cancer more than 25 years ago. In recent years, she faced serious health challenges with the same strength, grace and courage that characterized her life. Alice was a member of Crawfordville Baptist Church and cherished her faith, family and friendships. Alice is survived by her beloved husband, Richard “Moose” Wiginton; her son, Zach Wiginton (Jessica); her daughter, Nikki Whitney (Scott); her mother, Annie Kate Green; her sisters, Jo Ann Hutchinson (Ron), Kathy Lovett (Mallie), and Penni Green; and her brother, Sammy Green (Leona). She is also survived by many beloved cousins, extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Green. Alice will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, strength, laughter, talents and unwavering devotion to her family will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. A celebration of life for Alice will be held in the coming weeks.
