Nanetta “Nan” Gingerich Johnson, 77, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away peacefully, April 22, 2017, as she succumbed to cancer. She was born December 23, 1939 in Stuttgart, Arkansas. She was a longtime resident of Central Georgia, Lake Sinclair and Sun City Peachtree. Nan had a real zest for life having retired from the State of Georgia, as a Parole Officer, to travel the world. Her greatest passion was dancing and she was a member of the dance troupe, “The Paris Dancers”. She is survived by her sons Emile "Red" Barnes III (Michele) of Crawfordville & Michael William Barnes (Denise Burdick) of Panacea, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Mrs. Johnson will be donated to the Anatomical Board of the State of Florida per her request. Whole body donation significantly impacts advancements in medical research, development and education every day. Donation is essential to the advancement of medicine, contributing to emergency medical personnel and advanced physician training, disease study, and the development of assistive medical devices and less invasive patient surgical treatments. A Memorial Service will be held at St. George's Episcopal Church in Griffin, Georgia on May 11th at 10:00 am.
