Mary Jean Sottilare

March 8, 1938 - January 18, 2022

Mary Jean Sottilare, 83, of Crawfordville, passed away January 18, 2022, with her two daughters by her side. Mary was a native of Wakulla County, born March 8, 1938 to parents Sam & Edith Mae Revell. Mary moved from Wakulla County in 1961 to live most of her adult life in Central Florida, Orlando area. Soon after she arrived, she was discovered and became a model, including modeling shoots for The Florida Boating Safety. She traveled most of the United States, Canada and the Virgin Islands. March 6th, 1973, she did a solo flight alone and unassisted in a Cessna 150, where she took off from and safely returned to the Kissimmee airport. She received her pilot license and bought her first plane. She met and married her husband Robert Sottilare. They moved back to Wakulla in the mid 1990's. They enjoyed traveling in their RV and their favorite place to go was upstate New York. Survivors include her two daughters Judy Sanders Morris and husband Perry & Debbie Sanders Bahamon and husband Enrique, 3 granddaughters Brittany Bahamon and husband Kelsey Pegden, Ashley Bahamon & Jessica Carter and husband Jonathan, 2 great granddaughters Emilia Pegden & Silvia "Sisi" Pegden, her son Dr. Robert Sottilare and wife Shannon, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews & cousins. Mary loved her dear friends and neighbors Olivia, Kyle, Jenny, Quill, Dennis, Judy K., Pam, Barbara & Al. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Skip & Trey Young are assisting the family.
