John Henry Porter

October 24, 1947 - March 26, 2017

John Henry Porter, 69, of Spring Creek, died at the Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice House with his family on March 26, 2017. He graduated from Crawfordville High School in 1966 and went to St. Louis, Missouri, where he graduated from Computer Programming School. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He moved back to Wakulla County and began working at Florida State University as a computer programmer. He then worked many years as a General Contractor building homes. Johnny loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. He was active with Ducks Unlimited for several years. He was fun loving, free spirited, very loving and loved his family and friends. Johnny was a familiar face around the coastal communities of Spring Creek and St. Marks, where he spent a lot of his time. Predeceased in death by his parents Lincoln & Ruby Porter. Survivors include his children Jonnie Marie Porter Pelt & Jason Porter, 4 grandchildren Trey Pelt, Colton Pelt, Porter Malloy & Aidan Malloy, 1 great grandchild Wyatt Pelt, brothers Billy Porter & Bobby Porter (Glenda), sisters Becky Yawn (Ray) & Karen Parsons (Mark), aunts & uncles and many cousins. Family will receive friends Saturday, April 1, 2017 10:00-11:00 am at Family Funeral Home 84 Ochlockonee St., with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11:00 am, under the pavilion. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice and/or Ducks Unlimited.
