Eileen F. Johnson

August 21, 1945 - February 4, 2022

Eileen F. Johnson, age 76, loving mother of two, grandmother of one, and amazing wife to husband Lurvie Johnson who loved her dearly, passed away on February 4th. She fought melanoma cancer with courage but ultimately succumbed to COPD. Eileen was born on August 21st in 1945 in Waterbury, CT and grew up in Oak Park, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents Lenore Bloch and Francis Fitzgerald. She had a very special relationship with her cousins, cemented as kids doing all of the things that kids do. We heard that Eileen cheated in Jacks during those times. Playing Jacks continued on as a Grandma, teaching her Granddaughter how to play. We’re assuming all tricks were included in those hours spent on the floor playing. The two had a very special relationship and formed their own club called Team Adventure. Eileen met her husband 52 years ago at work selling Electrolux vacuum cleaners; they married in 1972. She passed away on his birthday, there’s a certain spiritual romance to that. Eileen worked in various professional roles, from sales to managing a podiatry office to nursing to home health care. She was a believer in giving back, volunteering at AIDS organizations, domestic violence organizations, feeding people and helping support families during the holidays to name a few. As a mother she was the best: loving and kind, tough and forgiving, present and always in our corner. Eileen was blessed with very close dear friends, spanning decades to a few short years. If one thing is true, Eileen knew no strangers. After many years traveling in their RV, Eileen and Lurvie called Carrabelle, FL home, where she created a wonderful and supportive community. Eileen also found peace, spiritual growth and gratitude at the Carrabelle Love Center. Eileen is survived by her husband Lurvie, her son Tony Nevara (partner Sunny), her daughter Stacey Nevara (wife Laura), and her granddaughter Brady Nevara. Our family’s hearts are full with her love and that is her legacy. Services will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Carrabelle Love Center or Desert Haven Animal Refuge in New Mexico in Eileen’s name. Skip and Trey Young are assisting the family.
