Richard D. Rogers, 83, of Sopchoppy, died at home with his family on October 20, 2016. He was born in Boynton, FL, February 19, 1933. He moved to Wakulla County from Alabama in 1941. He attended Crawfordville High School. He served in the United States Army as an Army Ranger. He served 11 months on the front lines of The Battle of Heartbreak Ridge during the Korean Conflict. Upon his Honorable Discharge he received the Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal, 2 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was the owner of Richard Roger's Masonry. He worked as a brick mason for many years before retiring. He was very proud of the work he did around the North Florida area, including the FSU stadium. He attended Sopchoppy Southern Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Agnes Harms Rogers, son Richard Rogers (Myra), daughter Denise Rogers, brother Rudolph Rogers (Guadeloupe), sisters Linda Sue Brumby, Christine Rogers & Jean Rogers, 3 grandchildren Douglas Hagood Rogers, Karen Lou Rogers & Ashley Lavina Shepherd and 4 great grandchildren James Conner Sutton, Maliki A. Shepherd, Hayden M. Rogers & Aydian K. O'Ferrell. Family will receive friends Sunday, October 23, 2016, 5:00-7:00 pm at Family Funeral Home 84 Ochlockonee St. Crawfordville. Graveside Service will be Monday, October 24, 2016, 11:00 am at West Sopchoppy Cemetery.
