Shirley Ann Fitch

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet, dear Momma, Shirley Ann Fitch, on February 29th, 2024. Shirley was born on January 10th, 1936 to Frank Davies Jr. and Estella Myers at Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Moundsville, West Virginia. Moved to Tampa, Florida and then moved to St. Petersburg in 1950. Shirley graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1953, and met the love of her life, Kenneth Fitch, while on a double date and later married on June 1st, 1956. Shirley devoted her married life to raising two daughters, Sharon Lee and Robin Sue Fitch until her youngest daughter was in seventh grade and then went to work in the Insurance Industry. From there her and Ken moved to Clearwater, then Inverness, until after her daughter Robin and husband moved to Crawfordville where Shirley and Ken moved until they both passed. She will be remembered by friends and family for her quick wit and sassy sense of humor, her flare for fashion, cooking and beating family at their weekly poker games, in which Kenny would always say, “Rake it in Ma, rake it in!” Shirley had a passion for decorating during the holidays with Christmas being the exclamation point, hosting big family get togethers, opera, going to plays, antiquing, decorating, working in the yard and she took an interest in refinishing neglected furniture all with husband Ken. Shirley is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Estella Davies, her beloved stepmother, Naomi Brechbuhl Davies, and the love of her life of 54 years, Kenneth Fitch. She is survived by her loving daughters, Sharon Lee Fitch Haller and Robin Sue Fitch Clewis, brothers Donald Wayne Davies of Boiling Springs, South Carolina; Steven Brechbuhl (and Sally) of De Leon Springs, FL and Marty Brechbuhl (and Cherilyn) of Ellijay, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Wyatt Ray Clewis of Crawfordville, FL and Gabriel Stone Clewis of Tallahassee, FL, as well as beloved nieces, cousins and nephews. Shirley Ann Fitch’s family would like to thank all the dedicated nursing care from those who cared for her during her hospital stays to rehabilitation centers, specifically, Hospice and Visiting Angels. Her Angels were like family as they grew close over the months they spent together. Shirley will be dearly missed but always remembered with fondness, her love and compassion for others, her sense of humor and love of her family. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 am at Family Funeral Home/Harvey Young Chapel. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am and Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery.
