Paula Marie Arico

Paula Marie Arico passed away on November 23rd, 2023, at the age of 69, which is fitting because she loved dirty jokes. "Have you heard any good jokes lately?" was often one of the first questions she would ask people. She loved to laugh and have a good time and be silly. She would quote Mae West, Dorothy Parker, and Groucho Marx and had her children watch all the Marx Brothers movies. She also loved music and could sometimes be seen playing guitar and singing a Joni Mitchell or Kate Wolf song, even though she wasn't always able to hit all the high notes. She was a believer in positive thinking and many people enjoyed her upbeat personality. She was a member of the Spiral Garden Community in Woodville, FL for over 30 years and she will be greatly missed by all her neighbors. She also lived in Sonoma County, California for 15 years where she had a bookkeeping business called Amethyst Accounting for Creatives. She was a bookkeeper for over 40 years and an early adopter of computers, eventually starting a computer consulting business called The Desk Doctor. Her tag line was "For all your computer boo boos," and she had a photo of herself dressed as a doctor listening to a computer with a stethoscope. She always claimed she wanted to be a doctor when she was a kid. She is survived by her daughter, Jordan Arico of Santa Rosa, California; her son, John Paul Holwell of Oakland, California; her brothers Leo Arico, Jr. (Phyllis Sylvester) and Arthur Arico (Patricia Goodloe) of Charlottesville, Virginia, and her nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her parents, Leo Arico, Sr. and Helen Pridmore of Alexandria, Virginia and her fiancée, Skip Martin of Charlottesville, Virginia. A celebration of life will be held on February 1st, 2024, (her 70th birthday) at 5:30pm at the Miccosukee Land Co-op Community Center, potluck at 6pm and remembrances at 7pm. Brightly colored or purple attire suggested, and the telling of jokes encouraged. Her ashes will be scattered on her property in Woodville in a short ceremony the following day in the same spot that she scattered Skip's ashes. She was a proud feminist, so in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local Planned Parenthood in her memory.
