Maria Elena Essman Shiver

Maria Elena Essman Shiver, 75, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on, August 6th, 2022, at her home with her loving family and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Maria or "Bitsy" as most knew her was born in Bessemer, Alabama, on September 11th, 1946, to her parents James Monroe "Pappaw" Essman and Edna Earl "Granny" Essman. She grew up in Greensboro, Florida, and graduated from Greensboro High School, where she excelled in sports, cheerleading and was head majorette. She was also elected by her student body as Homecoming Queen and FFA Sweetheart. Later in life she resided in Tallahassee, Florida, where she worked for and retired from the State of Florida at DEP. She was a homemaker, devoted wife to Miles Shiver for 32 years, and a wonderful mother and "Mimi", to all that loved her. She was preceded in passing by her son Clay Edmonds, husband Miles Shiver, brothers Calvin C.W. Essman, Jesse Essman and David Fason and sisters Peggie Hutchinson and Sharon Cowart. Survivors include her children Darren Edmonds of Crawfordville, Florida & Kristi Waff (Wade) of Sopchoppy, Florida, brother Tommy Fason (Mary Kate) of Greensboro, Florida, brother-in-law Larry Hutchinson of Sneads, Florida, sister-in-law Christine Fason of Quincy, Florida, ten grandchildren Ciera Edmonds, Clayton Waff, Haleigh Edmonds (John), Hannah Loudner (Terry), Caleb Waff, Crystal Edmonds, Taylor Lee, Jordan Lee, Candice Shields Casey & Clint Shields, nine great grandchildren Bryson, Hayden, Joe, Lucy, Callie, Ruby, Eden, Elaiynah & Castiel, as well as a host of friends, nieces, nephews and cousins, that lovingly knew her as "Bitsy" & "Aunt Bitsy". She is loved and missed by all, but never forgotten, as her sweet spirit and example will live on. The family will receive friends Friday, August 12, 2022, 5:00-7:00 pm at White Primitive Baptist Church, Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 13, 2022, 12:00 noon at White Primitive Baptist Church and Burial will follow at White Church Cemetery in Woodville.
