John Randol Johnson

John Randol Johnson, 76, of Crawfordville, peacefully entered his heavenly home on June 12, 2025. Born in Waycross, Georgia, John moved to Tallahassee where he attended school and graduated from Leon High School. In 1978, he made Crawfordville his home. Before answering the call to ministry, he worked in the cable television industry doing underground construction and he owned J&S Communications. He later became the founding pastor of New Life Ministries, where he faithfully served for 23 years. John had a heart uniquely made for pastoring—genuine, compassionate, and full of grace. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, much to the amusement of his family. He was quick to offer encouragement, always ready with a scripture, and eager to share God’s love. Among his favorite verses was Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord; thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” John loved his family fiercely and unconditionally. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the water, taking his children and grandchildren boating, waterskiing, and tubing—often pushing the limits of fun as the family’s expert and enthusiastic tube driver. Known for his humor, John was the family jokester, always ready with a laugh and a kind word. If he was your friend, you had a friend indeed. John also loved to mow the grass, tinker in the barn and do woodwork; always coming up with ideas to make someone happy. He will be remembered by his beloved wife of nearly 47 years (July 1, 1978), Paula Gaby Johnson, his children Kimberly Howells (Jeff), Michael Johnson (Annette), Jessica Langford (Ross), and Jennifer Johnson (Larry), his cherished grandchildren Dustin Taylor (Brittany), Audrey O’Keeffe (Colin), Hannah Paul (John), Maverick Stubbs, Parker Stubbs, and Renny Langford, 2 great-grandchildren Mason and Brayden Taylor and his sisters Georgianne Williams (Rick), Kim McCoy, and Brenda Harvey, along with many treasured nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends that he deeply loved and treasured. He was predeceased by his parents Betty Freeman Crossman & Randol Johnson and brothers Daryl Harvey and Roy Davis. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 AM, with a celebration of John’s life to follow at 11:00 AM at Family Funeral Home / Harvey Young Chapel. Burial will follow at Arran Cemetery. A heartfelt thank you to Wakulla EMS, TMH Emergency Room and ICU, and the Center for Compassionate Care at TMH Big Bend Hospice for their care and support.
