Gregory Leneil Rich

Gregory (Greg) Leneil Rich passed away August 30, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida. The second of three children born to Wallace (Wally) Rich and Evelyn Birch Rich in Tompkinsville, Kentucky on December 26, 1959. After the family moved to Tallahassee, FL in 1972, Greg continued his education. During high school, he participated in chorus, played football and was a pole vaulter. He graduated from Leon High School in 1978. Later he started working as an electrician and ultimately became a master electrician and owned his own business. Greg enjoyed many things in his life! He loved worshiping Jesus at his church, Southwood Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL. He especially enjoyed working as the sound technician in the sound booth during each service. Greg cherished “family-time”. The time he spent with his wife Kathy, son Dillan and his family, including those 3 grandchildren, were special to him. He also enjoyed his time with his sisters and all their families. Greg loved music! Especially if he could play his bass guitar and sing along! Anyone who knew Greg knew that he really enjoyed playing a joke on someone. We can still hear that “special laugh” he had as he sat back and watched the prank unfold. “Oh, the stories we can tell about Greg!” We will continue to share those stories at our family gatherings! Greg was a hard worker and took immense pride in a job well done. He could fix about anything! He cared about others and was very willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Greg loved fishing and boating and took advantage every chance he was able to get out on the water. Greg was a loving and caring brother to his sisters, especially his younger sister Vanessa. He loved to tease and pester his sisters as most brothers do, but, if there was ever a problem, he was very protective of them. Greg was preceded in death by his parents Wallace (Wally) Rich, Evelyn Rich Florence, and his stepdad Robert (Bob) Florence. He leaves behind his loving wife of 25 years Kathy Rich of Crawfordville, FL; his son Dillan (Brittany) Rich and three grandchildren Kayla, Zachery and Lola all of Grand Ridge, FL. Step-mom: Lee Rich of Sarasota, FL. Sisters: Vicki (Larry) Register of Tallahassee, FL; Vanessa (Wesley) Shivers of Crawfordville, FL; and Sybill (Brant) Webb of Sarasota, FL. Sister-in-law Julie Books and brother-in-law Harry Brooks (Kimberly) who was like a brother to him, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Visitation is Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 2:30pm followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 3:00pm, at Southwood Baptist. Interment is at Wakulla United Methodist Church Cemetery.
