Evelyn Jane Register

Evelyn Jane, born May 11, 2022, went to heaven peacefully in her parents’ arms on June 25, 2023, at Stanford Children’s Hospital in California at 13 months old after a year of precious memories despite the doctor’s predictions for her life because of her heart condition. Since her birth Evelyn was a true miracle. God alone has the authority to sustain life and by His protection she defied the odds at every point along her journey. Evelyn is survived by her parents, Jesse and Dallas, and her 7-week-old little sister Annalee Jane. Her presence brought complete contentment to her parents as they felt a love with no measure. Evelyn’s grandparents were captivated by their first grandchild, and rightfully so, she was the light of their lives. Survived by Papa & J-ma (Allen and Janie Harris) and Grandpa and Grandma (Gary and Joanne Register). Evelyn was also dearly loved by her godparents Uncle Ry & Aunt Nanner (Ryan Mazon and Savanna Harris Mazon), Uncle Nick Register, and Aunt Madison Harris. FaceTime was a highlight of Evelyn’s day; she would perk up at the sound of the ring wondering who was going to end up on the other end for her social call. She was the only thing that could wake her mom up early in the mornings with a smile on her face and an eagerness to take on the day together. Breakfast time was her favorite with blueberry waffles, sausage, and water from her blue big girl straw cup that she was proud to master early. Evelyn had the most contagious smile and could make anyone laugh as even strangers commented on her beautiful long hair, happy demeanor, and sparkle in her eyes. She loved dancing to the worship music at church and “going over the river and through the marsh” to Jma’s house. Evelyn’s legacy is her testimony that has impacted countless lives and will continue to do so as God has a plan for her far greater than anything most of us achieve in a lifetime. As we ventured to California for her 17-hour open heart surgery we were able to share the gospel with many families, nurses, and esteemed doctors at one of the best children’s hospitals in the world. Evelyn taught us and others many things along the way. As her parents we realized early on that the reality of death faces all of us. Some of us try to shirk from that fact and very few embrace it. Evelyn faced death every day, as we all do, but she did so with grace, courage, and a smile on her face. The reality of death changed how we viewed everything. We did not want to take a single moment for granted, this perspective allowed us to enjoy the little things, and look forward to each morning the Lord blessed us to wake up next to her again. Though it may appear to be a tragedy, we believe God has chosen Evelyn’s life to glorify himself and we are honored to be trusted with such a task. We have a peace that surpasses all understanding that she is in heaven with Jesus as we have committed our family to the truth of God’s word. We are satisfied with and fully convinced we are living for eternity and that these circumstances are momentary afflictions producing an eternal weight of glory. God loved us enough to send his only son Jesus to die for us that we could be in eternity with him, this is truly our blessed assurance.
