Edwin Glen Brown

Edwin Glen Brown (11/26/1940 – 6/24/2022) passed away Friday morning peacefully at home in the care of his loving wife of 62 years, Sharol Pelt Brown. Edwin grew up in the Sanborn area south of Sopchoppy in a family of eight children. As a family they farmed, fished, hunted and shared their bounty with family and neighbors during the depression years. Edwin loved football and played for the Sopchoppy Yellow Jackets during his high school years. He declined an offer to play college football at Troy University to begin working and marry the love of his life. After graduating he joined the Tallahassee Fire Department. He also surveyed on his days off and began his long career as a professional land surveyor. He left the fire department after 12 years of service and founded Edwin Brown & Associates in 1976, a legacy business still run today by his son. He was a founder and Chairman of the Board of Citizens Bank (now Ameris) in Crawfordville. After retiring, he became a full-time farmer, up at dawn for his five mile walk before a day full of chores. He particularly loved hay farming, planting, plowing and rolling hundreds of acres each year. He never considered it work. He looked forward to climbing on his tractor each morning and whistled while he plowed up and down each row. Edwin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and most recently great-grandfather. His proudest accomplishment was his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Sharol Pelt Brown, children Traci Brown Cash & Wade Brown and wife Beth, brothers Delano Brown and wife Sondra, Kent Brown and wife Linda & sister-in-law Janice Pelt Brown, brother-in-law Randall Pelt and wife Ava,grandchildren Shelby Dotson and husband Allen, Tanner Cash, Caleb Brown and wife Taylor & Haley Brown and great grandchildren Caiden Brown & Carter Brown. Predeceased by his parents Lonnie Wesley & Lodusky Brown, siblings Taska Brown & Bernie France, B.W. & Magdaline Brown, Lonnie Brown, Glennis Brown & Woodrow Saucier and Andy Brown, sister-in-law Maxine Pelt Lambath, son-in-law Jerry Cash and granddaughter Chelsea Cash. Funeral service will be Monday, June 27, 2022, starting at 10:30 AM and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 9:30 AM at the Sopchoppy Southern Baptist Church.
