Clayton R. "Rudy" Rodgers

Clayton Rudolph (Rudy) Rodgers, 89 years and 10 months old, passed away on November 14, 2024. He was born to Willie Fred and Eula Mae Rodgers on January 31, 1935 in Vincent Mountain, Alabama. His family moved to Wakulla County, Florida when he was 8 years old. As a youngster he worked with Mr. Ouzts as a fisherman. They delivered seafood as far away as the Texas coast. He was an avid Sportsman, he loved to fish, hunt, boat, camp and swim. He attended Crawfordville school until he joined the Air Force where he served as a firefighter in Del Rio, Texas. It is there that he met and married his wife of 68 years, Guadalupe Dominguez. After his discharge from active duty, he continued his career in the USAF Reserves as Fire Chief at Tyndall Air Base in Panama City, Florida. His service enabled him to travel the United States. He retired with 40 years of active services with the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for 30 years as a Forest Ranger and later as a printer. He attended Florida A&M University where he studied Photography. He attended Grace Baptist Church formerly known as Midway and Riversink. He served as Deacon under Brother HD Lawhon and Brother Gary Tucker. He led the Royal Ambassador Mission Program for many years. He taught the boys how to walk the Christian Life. The program included life skills, such hunting, archery, target shooting, fishing, and survival skills. Clayton is survived by his wife Guadalupe Dominguez Rodgers; daughters, Suzie Strickland (Mark Hartsfield), Debra Baxley (Thomas Hubbard), Sandra Lesley (Danny); son Clayton Glen Rodgers (Devin); son-in-law Danny Coleman; sister. Linda Brumby; grandsons Johnny Bennett, Eric Baxley, Benjamin Strickland, Brandon Strickland, Michael Lesley, John Coleman, Christopher Rodgers; granddaughters, Shanna Baxley and Amber Lollar; and 22 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Brenda Ann Coleman; and grandsons Tommy Lee Lesley and Jarvis Eugene Strickland. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
