Tanya Council English

Tanya Council English, 60 years old, passed away on August 31, 2021 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Brian C. English, her son, Justin Millians (Lisa,) her daughter, Elizabeth English, and her sister, Ann Council-Payne (Mark.) She was predeceased by her father, Dennis Blake Council, and her mother, JoAnn Council. Tanya was a highly respected educator for 38 years. Her career began in Wakulla County as a teacher at Shadeville Elementary School. She moved to Carrollton, GA where she taught for several years. Afterwards, she returned to Wakulla County as a teacher while earning her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Florida State University. She was the Assistant Principal at Crawfordville Elementary School and then became Principal of Crawfordville Elementary School for numerous years. She moved to the Administrative Offices of the Wakulla County School Board and served as the Exceptional Student Education Executive Director before retiring last year. Tanya was always known for her big heart and her desire to do for others. She always strived to keep learning and to better herself so she could help those around her. She was a member of Lake Ellen Baptist Church and worked tirelessly in her community to make it a better place. After retiring, she obtained her Retirement Income Certified Professional designation and worked at the family business, English Financial Group, with her husband Brian. She also joined the Rotary Club to continue to support the Wakulla community, which she so dearly loved. Tanya’s pride and joy was spending time with family, friends, and all of her “adopted” children. She also enjoyed RVing, going to the beach, spending time on their pontoon boat and jet-skiing. The most important thing that Tanya would want you to know is that she is a Blood-Bought Child of God with Jesus Christ as her Savior. He guided her and made her the special person that she was to all of us. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to "Tanya English Scholarship" in care of Wakulla Academic Boosters, P.O. Box 448 Crawfordville, Florida 32326. This scholarship will be for deserving students in Wakulla County. Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 9:00-10:30 am at the Lake Ellen Baptist Church and Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 am.
